Wouldn't it be nice to go to one spot and gather all the information you wanted on the business side on Lavender from the actual growers themselves? How nice would that be anyway? Being new to this endeavor of growing lavender commercially I am having a very hard time with getting the real answers on how this business works.
It seems that everyone in the business that I talk to has a small part of it figured out for themselves and it is working for them obvioulsy when we visit their farm. But then the nitty gritty specifics seem to get fuzzy. For example; "So how much do you think you are netting a plant or an acre? Well ,,,,not sure... it could be...well probably more than that ...but well I really am not sure.
Or you run into those, quite easily actually, that claim to be the real experts and want to make money for telling you all they know and how successful you will be when you do what they say. Only to find out latter that "all they know" is limited to some very basics and the real details of how it really works the best you will figure out yourself some how.
Or then there is those doing for the love of farming or the plant or the crafts and the business end is just as simple as what is in the till at the end of the summer.
Or you can attend seminars and spend lots of money and where the "real experts" are and listen and listen and listen but not once hear much about how to be financially successful in Lavender.
Everyone we meet is very nice and well intentioned. But as is the often the case those with their hands at work love it so much that the dollars can fall where they might and what will be will be. Well there are some of us that need more organization. Hence; Lets SYNERGIZE.
The industry is so new here that the seminars and help that could be provided is still being formulated. The books that could see you through the business end of this are yet to be written as far as I can tell, Oh yes there is the simple and very generalized information contained on some online seminars and so forth that are just that; simple and general.
So I have started this blog with the hopes that those that would like to share some real good tips on how to be successful and the nitty gritty details will do so.
It sould be as simple as how to make your Facebook page really work for you. Or how to get people to your farm for your first Lavender Fair.
Or as complicated as I have spent $xxxx.xx over the last few years on .......advertising and it has returned me every penny and more.
This blog will have the most value to those just starting and they may be the ones with the most ideas having talked to alot of people in their investigation of this business. Or they may have to most questions to post.
May I start with the first question?
